Living not at home

Esta exposição deixou-me feliz. As gravuras e serigrafias de Maria Helena Vieira da Silva são tão fortes e tão focadas. As múltiplas linhas, marcas e pontos comunicam energia e dinamismo, e ao mesmo tempo uma simplicidade.  Por muito que tenha gostado, perguntei-me mais tarde porque é que as exposições sobre o tema da liberdade raramente incluíam jovens artistas. Como se a liberdade fosse um tema exclusivo para os artistas que nasceram antes de 1974.    A exposição está patente na Biblioteca Municipal de Gaia e prolonga-se até 3 de novembro. Vale a pena.  I left this exhibition feeling buoyant. Maria Helena Vieira da Silva's silkscreens and etchings are powerful and focused. Her abstract works communicate lightness, movement and space.  Along with the warm glow that the exhibition gave me, it also raised the question of why exhibitions on the theme of liberty and 25th March include so few young or contemporary artists.
